Tamburi Neri – Dolce Veleno
In 2019, Mad On The Moon welcomed Tamburi Neri into its catalogue, a project born from the meeting of Claudio Brioschi and Andrea Barbieri. Two different paths converging in music suspended between club culture, storytelling and performance.
Brioschi, already part of the label’s history both as artist and as mastering engineer, brings his experience as a producer and DJ to the duo. Barbieri, meanwhile, uses his voice to give shape to stories, notes and images collected over the years. He does not simply sing: he recites, repeats, evokes and transforms words into rhythmic material.
Dolce Veleno was Tamburi Neri’s second record, following their debut on Optimo Music, and their first release for Mad On The Moon. The record contains two tracks on a 12-inch vinyl.
The title track is a manifesto for this early phase of the duo. In just over twelve minutes, Dolce Veleno already defines many of the elements that would accompany Tamburi Neri throughout their subsequent work: tribal electronics, Italian spoken word, club-driven rhythms and a constant attraction to murky emotional territories. Music designed to exist somewhere in between, where storytelling can become rhythm.
The record was written and produced by Claudio Brioschi and Andrea Barbieri, with lyrics by Barbieri. It was mixed by Claudio Brioschi at Prisma Sonoro Studio in Milan and mastered at Analogcut Mastering in Berlin.
